Another Cheap Knife.. but this one works

We have been looking for a source for these pocket tools and finally found one here in Tucson. The Swiss Tech tools have quite a following online and now there is a local source to buy them without shipping charges. We went to the store and bought a few styles to test out and add to our gear. We started out with the Screwz-All (4-1 tool), Utili-Key (6-1 tool) and Micro-Pro (9-1 tool). They each come in a plastic package with instruction card.

We were given the chance to review the Benchmade 155 fixed blade knife. This high quality knife made by Benchmade in the USA is made of quality materials in a unique design by Warren Osborne, a respected knife designer. Features of this knife include; 6.2 inch blade length, .18 inch blade thickness in a modified drop-point style with multiple serrations. The Benchmade 155 weighs a hefty 9.92 ounces and has an overall length of 11.2 inches. The machined Foliage Green Anodized 6061-T6 Aluminum Handle Scales have a Multi-Directional texture that offers a positive grip no matter how the knife is held in the hand. The Benchmade 155 is made from 154CM Stainless Steel, a premium grade steel originally developed for tough industrial applications because of its corrosion resistance and toughness. This well balanced knife feels great in the hand and we can not wait to get it into the field to see how well it performs. This knife is a serious tool worthy of the Benchmade name

Our first impression of the Victorinox Rescue Tool is a good one. This is a very solid well made folding tool. The first thing you notice is the color. This is designed as an emergency tool, so its bright yellow (StayGlow) handles really stand out keeping this tool from becoming lost if dropped, The bright red and yellow sheath is also hard to miss. For more low key applications there is a black version available. The Victorinox RescueTool fits well in the hand and three of the most important blades are one hand opening and closing even with gloves. This could be a good all around knife. The specialized blades are still useful in other applications. For an EMT or Paramedic this would be a must have tool in my opinion. For a first aid kit or emergency bag this is also a great tool for the money.

We had a chance to review some EDC gear from the EDC Depot.com online store. The items arrived in about two days, were packaged well and nothing was damaged. No extra packaging to throw away either. And a FREE spy capsule (pill fob) !!!

We received a TOPs Pocket Size Survival Saw and a Cord Lock Light made by Black Crater. I opened the box and set out threw contents for this photo, and then there was a blur of hands and I had to wait a while to get the items back for more photos.

We had a chance to use and review the Fenix L2D LED flashlight. This small light offers many functions in a small size using standard AA batteries. The Fenix L2D has 4 brightness settings as well as flashing strobe and SOS functions for signaling (6 outputs). We compared it to some other lights too and this light puts out a lot of light. The simple one button control requires some learning to use the various features, but it is not very complicated. Overall, for the price, (about half of many high quality lights) this light performs well compared to others

The LMF II was designed by Jeff Freeman for Gerber. It has a 4.8 inch blade, and an overall length of 10.6 inches. It weighs 11.4 ounces and is made of 12C27 Stainless Steel. It has a partially serrated, drop point blade. The handle is made of glass filled nylon with a rubber covering. Between 60 & 70% of US tungsten consumption is used in the manufacture of new carbide. Last year, tungsten recovered from scrap accounted for 31% of tungsten consumption by US processors and end users.
The rest was imported; 43% of the import was from China. China has approximately 65% of the worlds known tungsten reserves and last year produced 86% of the newly mined tungsten, world wide.

China is also the worlds largest tungsten consumer. The Chinese Government, in order to conserve its resources and meet its increasing domestic demand, has limited tungsten production and exports while increasing tungsten imports. These policies are expected to continue.

We saw these Sampo Ball Berring Swivels at a local fishing tackle shop. These heavy duty ball berring swivels are made for salt water fishing. I thought of about a dozen uses for these when I saw them; key rings, attaching loops of 550 cord to knives and tools, flashlight attachments, digital cameras and cell phones. The larger swivels have solid (welded) rings and look to be very heavy duty
